Ok what the hell - these were $450 just a few short years ago!
Kahr has always had a great reputation - especially their steel framed 9mms - as a carry gun.
I’ve always wanted a K9 and just never picked one up.
Ok what the hell - these were $450 just a few short years ago!
M&P Shield rebates happened. Same reason why people can't even give away XDSs for anything close to what they used to go for. When you can get an amazing single stack 9mm for $300 or less new, why pay $400+ for one with less capacity and worse features.
Carry mine every day. I have a lot of guns, but this one is the only one I get consistent practical use out of. Mine is the stainless. I might need to pick this one up for diversity.
I bought one for $400 and do not regret it. It's extremely shootable and accurate even with +p, for a pistol of any size and zero malfunctions in 350 rounds so far. Sub 16 oz, fits in the pocket of my lightweight pants and I forget it is there.
I've got well over a thousand through mine, I've had it about five years. Never an issue, and it's the lightest and most compact 9mm I have. I'm not quite as accurate with it as the Glock or the Shield, just due to the trigger, but with practice it's plenty accurate for SD. The long trigger gives an extra bit of safety, as well.
So would you recommend this or a Shield 2.0? I plan to get the latter, but I'm open to changing my mind.
Let me say that I'm very glad to have both. That being said, I consider the Shield a better weapon because of the trigger. I carry the Shield more often, IWB.
For me though, the Shield isn't pocketable. The Kahr is. So the Kahr gets carried a lot in the summer, when I'm wearing shorts and T-shirts.
So what you're saying is that in colder climates, the Shield all the way? Sounds good.
I pocket carry a CM9 when I don't want to carry my P320. When I was in the market for a pocket gun, I chose the CM9 over the Shield because it's a little bit smaller. Having shot my friend's Shield, I can definitively say that the Shield is easier to shoot.
Well, I don't intend to pocket carry, since here most of the year it's too cold for shorts, and even in the part of the Year where it is warm enough for shorts I still wear pants and big shirts.
Trigger is my favorite part. I’ve had to yank it out in a hurry in a parking lot one time. With any other 9 I own I prob would have put a bullet in the ground or worse. By far my favorite gun. I paid 303 from budsguns.
For me, it’s a pass because of that. There’s some family history behind it, too. I think it’s important to know who is being funded when you buy from Kahr. I don’t think the Moonies are evil, or anything, but definitely a fringe religious group. Kahr has a great reputation for the quality of their products and if people jump on this deal, great for them. I think the history behind this company, and it’s very interesting, should be considered before making this purchase.
Just know to be careful putting this back together. You can actually pit the slide stop back in behind the barrel and everything clicks in and cannot bw separated. Had to cut the slide stop in half and replace
Before buying this gun, or anything from Kahr, you might want to research the Moonies.
In case you don't want to research it, Kahr is essentially owned by the son of the founders of the Moonies (aka the Unification Church) which is a cult. Think Korean Scientology. Some of your money will likely trickle into that cult if you buy a Kahr.
I hate talk like this because damn near every company has the same. Your money eventually goes somewhere shady. Or worse. You could pay theft I mean taxes
I'm not telling you to make a choice either way, but there is a pretty direct line in this case.
By that reasoning, don't watch any movies or TV shows with Scientology actors too.
Are you advising they not buy the gun due to the founders relation to the founder of the moonies?
Also the fact that their customer service is terrible.
Not been my experience at all.
This is a great price on a fantastic gun.
Good price on a great little carry gun. Love mine.
is this the new version of the CW9?
The CM9 is half an inch shorter and half an inch less tall and holds 6 rather than 7 in the mag. I don’t know which came first
Cw9 came first. Cm9 came around 2010-2012 I rememba because I was into kahrs and own each. Good old days.
What's your opinion on the CM9?
