First Post - Murmuration
The birds plummit and climb
twisting like torn black ribbons in the breeze.
Seperate molecules condensing
into one dark ball-like mass
and in a second spreading
to reveal the pale blue backdrop
between the fingers of their wings.
A dark dotted castnet spread out,
unfurling across the sky,
pulling us in, dragging us
towards their coreographed clot of dance,
our view distorted by winding tail of titmice.
The hawk humbled by their display
unable to decipher the density of their defense
flies the edge looking for stragglers
feathered wing tip trembling in the wind.
The shifting organism turns its head
like twisted tree limbs clamoring
towards the heavens.
Filled with wonder and astonishment
I am stopped dead,
until I forget five minutes later.
