We're getting scammed with the Elixirs...

Discussion

First of all, we're earning Nebulium Plasmas way slower than BO3's Liquid Diviniums

You can earn 1 Divinium every 7 rounds if you purchase at least 5-10 items. (based on the SoE RK5 strategy)

That means we can get 3 Diviniums at round 21 at least. Around 25-30 minutes give or take.

Let's have the logic that 3 Liquid Diviniums == 30 Nebulium Plasmas and a plasma is earned every 3 minutes.

(Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/CODZombies/comments/9y7ftr/how_to_earn_nebulium_plasma/)

That means it would take 90 minutes to get 30 Nebulium Plasma (without considering the xp barrier)

Also note that BO3 had power boosts (meaning you could get all 3 Gobblegums with 1 or 2 Liquid Diviniums.
You can get 4 max gobblegums in a spin if you get a double power boost with 1, 2 or 3 Liquid Diviniums.

Then comes BO4 that forced us to buy 3 always. Meaning 1 Liquid Divinium can be worth more than 30 Nebulium Plasmas since we can get a max of 4 Gobblegums with the double power boost.

Now before you tell me that there are Talismans anyway, those talismans are basically another system inside this system. They're basically Ultra-Rare Gobblegums with more subgroups.

Also note, most of the elixirs that were introduced in BO3 as Gobblegums are nerfed to heck.

Everything is forced to be 1 time uses. In before, we would get 3 Immolation Liquidation triggers and 4 Extra Credits. 2 Alchemical Antithesis and In Plain Sights.

The Aftertaste Gobblegum will only be used when downed, now an Aftertaste Elixir will either be used up when downed or expire at a short amount of time.

Another is that they placed previously free Gobblegums into a priced category: In Plain Sight and Alchemical Antithesis.

Then came the Elixir cooldowns. Some of the elixirs won't be ready to use after 5 rounds. In BO3, Gobblegums cycle every 5 purchases, meaning you can only purchase the same Gobblegum after purchasing, not taking, the other 4 Gobblegums in your setup.

Now before you say you could always trigger all 4 Elixirs in the same round anyway, think about this: They made each Gobblegum Machine active in every location in a map, technically you can buy a Gobblegum and use it and be able to buy again immediately. Also, if you use all 4 Elixirs in a round, you won't be able to use them for quite a while. In contrast to BO3, you can buy the Gobblegum you bought in Round 11 in Round 12 again if you purchased 3 times in each round since that's the max.

Purchasing Elixirs:

Using the 3 Vat Spin for Gobblegums gives out guarantees and at least 3 Gobblegums.

Using the Carbon Combo (30) for Elixirs gives out a max of 3 Elixirs with no guarantees, minimal chance of a Talisman too.

Finally:

30 Nebulium Plasma = 200 COD Points

3 Liquid Divinium = 200 COD Points

20 Liquid Diviniums = 1000 COD Points =

300 Nebulium Plasma = 2000 COD Points = 40 Liquid Diviniums

We're spending the same price and are receiving less with Nebulium Plasmas...

Considering they nerfed some of the know Gobblegums that are now Elixirs, forced to buy 3 at a time with no guarantees, and the earn rate for Plasmas are bad.

You can't call this balancing if it has a price tag for real currency on it and it was introduced before.

As much as you can. No known limit was introduced. We'll only know if someone dares to actually earn a ton.

Can we talk about the fact. AFTERTASTE ONLY LASTS 5 MINUTES OR IF YOU GET DOWN BEFORE THEN AFTER THAT IT'S GONE

The real bullshit is that if you use an elixir while another is active, the first one gets cancelled.

It’s a classic elixir. It was the only way to have it be a classic and also be balanced.

What are you smoking

2
Vortex1142•

Aftertaste is a elixir that can’t be activated in pickup now since you have elixirs as soon as you enter the match now so having something like that be time based doesn’t make sense and it being time based makes it being a classic elixir balanced

I see that you read my post and agree that it's a joke that we are paying/playing for something that is seriously unbalanced when it comes to the spins.

Honestly in shocked that while YouTubers have talked about the price, they haven't talked about the value of what you get from those prices..

Like even if they made it cheaper to buy cod points (which they won't) you still need to spin 30 for 3 elixirs...

Like my posts states they need to drop the spins down to 10 for a standard spin at the very least. :(

One thing to note: you said we could get up to 4 gobblegum with 3 Liquid Diviniums. You could actually get up to 6, assuming you do 1 vat spins 3 times and get 3 power boosts

1

Was referring to spinning all 3 at a time since bo4 forces you to buy 3 always

0
TimerstoneOP:BO3Prestige52:•

No. 3 liquid diviniums == 30 nebulium plasmas. We're comparing price and count of output. We're also using the logic that 10 plasma is 1 elixir as 1 divinium is 1 gobblegum

I perfer this set up, it causes you to play the game without having all of these over powered items, forcing you to play it closer to the original intentions of actually being good. The way the money is set up, it doesn’t give any incentive to actually buy anything which means that more people are going to be playing on much more even grounds and will require people to actually be better. With that, there’s a higher sense of accomplishment once you’ve gotten that 75 spin or once you’ve gotten that talisman from a 30 spin. You could make the argument that it gets in the way of completing the challenges for calling cards, but I would counter argue that things are set up so you have to put time into the game. Don’t expect to get everything when you’re still in the first few prestige’s, I’m prestige 6 and I just finished getting the 100% calling card without spending any money.

Wait what, Most elixirs even the ones you unlock are mediocre at best or nerfed so hard you don’t want to use it in your load out. Why does the zombie experience have to be more underpowered why can’t we feel good using a broken weapon or elixir why does it have to be nerfed where it’s boring to us because it sucks And when elixirs and talismans are good and maybe even broken it gives the players a new level of strategy on how to use them the best we can as players. That shows real skill not running around with a thunder gun shooting a horse down with one shot And to your point about being good that’s an omega lul , the of zombies really had nothing with being good wonder weapons had Infinite scaling so technically the only thing limiting you was time Just my opinion though : )

3
Papa_Shekels:Steam: :Battlenet: :WWIIPrestige11: :BO4Prestige7:•

Because we already tried having broken overpowered consumables in bo3 and that clearly did not give players "a new level of strategy on how to use them the best we can". People were still running around with the thundergun, except they got it on round 1 and had all perks as well.

-1
Zagar5623•

I disagree there was a brand new level of strategy a new way to play the game and btw the way the thunder gun didn’t have infinite scaling in bo3 they should use the gum balls to there advantage new ways to speed run news ways to play the game news strategy to finish Easter eggs finish challenge so the op gumballs I think helped more then hurt why take away power from the players and make the elixirs feel worthless to use

2
Papa_Shekels:Steam: :Battlenet: :WWIIPrestige11: :BO4Prestige7:•

So speedruns being pay to win added new strategy to the game? At least in this game the consumables are so bad that they're not worth grinding for, but in bo3 those were genuine pay to win stats. If you didn't pop a round 1 shopping free, you had absolutely no way of competing with anybody who did, simple as that.

1
TimerstoneOP:BO3Prestige52:•

No one is forcing you to buy them in the map anyway so you can't have that logic now can you?
Since it's clearly just an option.

And you can't call the system "broken overpowered consumables" if they are not intended to be a core mechanic of the game.

Please don't make bullshit claims, as it just makes the entire argument look worse if you try to make it out as something it's not

Get the picture bud?

1
cookiebreath•

The thing is, if they wanted the game to play "closer to the original intentions," why did they change so much? I personally don't use consumables, so I'm not invested in the systems. I'd be fine with no leveling system or consumables at all. With that said, this zombies mode is unrecognizable as a Treyarch game and by far my least favorite of the BO series.

2
QueenLa3fah:BO3Prestige56:•

Papa_Shekels:Steam: :Battlenet: :WWIIPrestige11: :BO4Prestige7:•

Just gonna stop halfway through, it seems like you have no idea what scamming means.

The prices are shit, yes. You would be stupid to pay for consumable elixirs, yes. But the prices are clearly listed and you get exactly what you pay for. If you absolutely hate the idea of having spare money and love burning your savings on pointless shit you can easily get by playing, then you can buy it. Nobody is forcing you to buy it, nobody is lying about what you're getting. Please don't make bullshit claims, as it just makes the entire argument look worse if you try to make it out as something it's not

-15
TimerstoneOP:BO3Prestige52:•

We're getting less of the same price based on a similar system between two games they created. Yes no one is forcing this but te more we tolerate it means the more they can sneak such mechanics into more games in the future that it would greatly affect us all. It's not a matter of shoving the whole system down our throats whether we like it or not, it's a matter of recycling systems, downgrading them and charging us for the same price. I'm also referring to the earn rate we get legitimately. You earn more stuff in BO3 yet here we are in BO4 getting less. Stuff meaning consumables. Yes they are playable witout the consumables but that's not the point. These sneaky mechanics of downgrading stuff then charging us for the same price or letting us earn them at a bad rate is an issue that needs to be addressed. Unless you're fine paying $60 to a downgraded mechanics (not graphics) remastered BO2.

This is what you're not getting.

They introduced the GobbleGum system in BO3, with the use of Liquid Divinium.

In one of the interviews Blundell took he was asked if the system was to return to BO4, he said that something similar would return.

- That would mean they intend to make the system on par with the old one, despite the different mechanics.

- What makes it a scam is that they promised something similar, meaning on par, and it ended up being under par.

- The way we earn Nebulium Plasmas for Elixirs take way too long compared to BO3, read my post.

- They forced us to spin 3 elixirs always and it doesn't give out a guarantee, in BO3, a 3 vat spin would guarantee at least one Rare. Meaning they downgraded our chances with BO4's system.

- To get the max guarantees, we have to pay more than twice the price of a basic (30 NP) spin.

- Let's apply the logic that 10 Nebulium Plasma equates to 1 Elixir and 1 Liquid Divinium equates to 1 GobbleGum.
Also the logic that BO4's 1 Elixir equates to BO3's 1 GobbleGum. Then 10 NP == 1 LD.
This would mean that the highest tier spin for Elixirs, that costs 75 NP, gives you only 3 Elixirs with a guarantee of a rarer Elixir. While in BO3, 7 Liquid Diviniums can give you at least 7 GobbleGums and you can get at least 2 Rare GobbleGums if you use the 3 vat spin twice. Note: "At Least" because BO3 had double reward boost and power boost.

All this is just for earning the Nebulium Plasmas by playing the game. I don't care if the system was intended to be an optional choice. What I don't want to tolerate is downgrading a system that was already introduced before.

What makes it worse is that they are selling it with the same price tag.
(I don't buy CoD Points, but it's something to note as other players do buy those)

1
Papa_Shekels:Steam: :Battlenet: :WWIIPrestige11: :BO4Prestige7:•

Jesus christ, stop it with these mental gymnastics. If he said something similar, that means similar, not identical. They made some changes to the balancing of the gums/elixirs, which are great. They made some changes to the pricing, which are terrible. Just say that and focus on that instead of making things up to make it seem worse than it is. Accusing them of scamming is not ok regardless of how much you dislike the new system and how justified it is

I think you saw the word scam and thought to comment something smart but you fail to see the actual point. Kids everywhere around the globe are spending their money or worse, their parents money on crap. furthermore, you don't get your moneys worth as already pointed out in a long video by waffles. if you want to look the other way and have a pointless discussion about poor choice of words from op, go ahead, but you'd have to be blind to not acknowledge how unfair this commercial side of things is becoming, getting to the point where pay-to-win is becoming, or even already is a thing on cod zombies.

even without spending money, the cool-downs and the elixirs you get make it a crap system

the fact the most of us will likely not give into this crazy expensive crap, doesn't change the fact that it's an absolute ripoff.
