Hawks 2018 draft recruits: Jacob Koschitzke (#52), Mathew Walker (#62) and rookies Damon Greaves (#14), Will Golds (#30) and Tim Mohr (#43)

Jacob Koschitzke (#52) - Defender, 196cm, Albury/Murray Bushrangers

The versatile big man is an excellent contested mark, strong in one-on-one contests and keeps a cool head under pressure. Had an excellent NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, earning All Australian honours before a hip complaint ended his season early. Cousin of former St Kilda star Justin Koschitzke.

Mathew Walker (#62) - Midfielder/Fwd, 188cm, GWS Academy

A member of the NAB AFL Academy, Greater Western Sydney has access to the Murray Bushranger through its Next Generation Academy. The forward has really lifted his work-rate and high-intensity running to play more in the midfield. Possesses really good natural forward nous to complement a strong pair of hands and reliable kick.

Damon Greaves (#14), Defender, 186cm, East Perth

Medium defender who has a penetrating kick and reads the game extremely well. Composed with the ball in hand and makes good decisions providing defensive rebound. A hard-working player with very good endurance and at times excelled during the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.

Will Golds (#30), Midfielder, 183cm, Oakleigh Chargers

Midfielder who can also play across half-back. Has elite running ability, clean hands and is a neat kick. Overcame an ACL injury in 2017 and is now displaying his potential at Xavier College and with the Oakleigh Chargers, winning the ball consistently. Tested well at the NAB AFL Draft Combine, finishing fourth in both the Yo-Yo test and the 2km time trial.

Tim Mohr (#43), Defender, monster, GWS

You'd know him from playing for GWS. Bargain back up depth (he is 30 though).

Shattered about Mosquito but our draft haul looks excellent.

A while back I looked through our draft history and saw that every year since like 2001 or 2002 we had taken at least one guy who was top ten at the Combine in a running discipline. The only exception was 2009, but we ended up getting Jack Fitzpatrick later who came first in the repeat sprints that year so that sort of counts.

From what I've seen, which is limited, Kozzie looks like a marking defender in the mould of Lake or Stratton, and knows the limitations of his kicking. Good size, good pick.

Walker looked like a footballer, confident kick on either side, goes for his marks and reads the play well. I'd say in the mould of Breust.

But then again it's easy to look good in highlight videos.

I don’t know anything about these kids so can anyone tell me if it was a good draft? Cut about mosquito tho

Apparently Koschitzke locked down one of the King twins (both went top 10) in a TAC match, which is a good sign

A few days ago Twomey had him being picked at #27 by West Coast.

Koschitzke is seen as perhaps the next best key defender in the pool behind Will Kelly and Ben King (who now plays forward anyway), so if the Eagles are keen to add to their tall defensive stocks he would be a good option at this selection. The cousin of former Saints forward Justin, Koschitzke is a good size, he's competitive and he can also play at both ends of the ground. The Eagles have been linked as having an interest in the 18-year-old.

Sounds like a really good pick up.

Yep and worth noting Kelly was a father-son and King a forward so we got the best KPD available in the draft with pick 52, not bad.
