That's a pretty atypical question... But well, threads (and logs) always come from the treant in the tier in the greatest amount. So hempen thread will come from forest treant, though it is also a somewhat rare drop from boss in the tier like maxena.

Thank you! I've just been having some trouble keeping enough for crafting but I guess it's because I haven't been fighting the treant much 😅

You should always fight the treant a few times, if you want to make wood and cloth items. Maybe even more than a few times.

Before the more serious answer, I wanted to say, "from a hempen spool."

I've only had the game a few days, so I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the only garunteed drop of HT is the treeant, and some of the other quests drop it in the first land as well
