Lg 34gk950g owners, I need you!

Tech Support

Hello,

my uw arrived yesterday. Usually, I see aw34dw posts here about tweaking this and that. Is this the same for 34gk950g? All I did so far is set my gamma to 50. Looking for a monitor arm(desk mount) as well. All advice suggestions/appreciated. Thank you.

If there is a guide for tweaking this monitor I can't seem to find it.

VIVO gas spring arm works well, I have the dual arm "27" only" model, holds a 34" just fine.

Without a calibration tool, I would just use whatever preset you prefer on the monitor (warm/cool/etc), and leave gamma at 2 (I believe this is closest to 2.2). Then lower brightness to about ~25.

Panels alone vary so much, let alone gpu, cables, lighting, etc... That I wouldn't even bother using someone elses settings. Especially from an entirely different monitor.

If you spent this much on a monitor, invest in a calibration tool, even a cheap Colormunki. It's almost a waste not to.

Thanks for the info!

Do you possibly have any recommendations for a calibration tool that's available in the EU as well?

I use Colormunki Display. The difference it makes is huge. Definitely worth its price.

Do you have this particular display by chance?

Nope. I have Asus PG279Q and Dell U2715H. Dell's picture is pretty good out-of-the-box, but on Asus the calibration makes a huge difference.

Well I have an AW3418DW but tweaking even the AW is completely personal pref. I know many who are happy out of the box. I simply downloaded an ICC profile from TFTcentral. and despite people warning not to do that because each monitor is different, I can definitely say this thing is spot on in the color department. The LG has nano IPS so i would just look at it in content and see if you are happy with it. If not, Check into some color profiles. and maybe even a color adjustment device. Personally I am happy with a TFT central ICC profile.

I'm sure the amazonBasicsArm would work for you, It was on sale recently for like $85.00 From $99.99. It has no problem holding up my AW3418DW. and it's so adjustable I was able to fit it into a corner desk and still push the monitor to the edge of the 2 walls in the corner. Definitely suggest it, I believe its a rebranded ergotron or whatever arm, and they are pretty tanky!

Noted, thank you!

How do you like it so far?

I like it a lot. The one thing I am a bit disappointed about are the black levels. That just an unfortunate trade-off when going for IPS panels.

Unfortunately will have to return this one due to excessive BLB in one of the corners.

The only things I have tweaked/set on mine are the things recommended on TFTCentral. Switched gamma mode to 3, set Response Time to Fast, and turned down the brightness to 25 or somewhere around there. I also calibrated the display using DisplayCal. And I turned on overclocking to 120hz. Not sure if anything else needs to be tweaked on this monitor.

How are you liking yours ? How’s BLB? I had an area of yellow tinting on my first screen that was right on top of the address bar in web browsers and very noticeable. Ended up exchanging it and subjectively the new screens looks much better.

Liking it a lot, however, will have to return this one. Pretty bad BLB in the left corner of the screen. Very noticeable.

Thanks for the info!
