Does anybody do sas storage attached to esx or proxmox then create storage machines off of it.

I have a couple 24 bay systems that connect via sas card pass through. I’ve tried freenas and I’ve tried rockstar. Can’t get xpenology to work on servers but have lots of ram and thought about doing a bunch of datastores then creates virtual disks for a virtual nas backup appliance? Is this rediculous. Have 100tb of production storage and 48 3TB disks to attach.

Server HP DL380 Gen 8 Dual 16 core CPUs 300GB+ of ram 10g melanox card ( had working in multiple systems btw) Netapp DS4246 IOM6 3TB drives 24 bay (X2) Have a bunch of 24 bay 2TB ones as well in ds4243
