Can I use replace low quality footage with HD footage with different aspect ratios, after I have already edited the video? [HELP]

I received a couple video files from a live concert that the videographer gave to me in 1080p format. I believe he exported them that way to make them easier for me to edit, but the quality is to low, and I need to replace the files with the HD files that are in a different aspect ratio (2k and 3k). Is it possible for me to link the new footage to my current sequence, or is it going to mess everything up?
