How to Create a New Armor from an Existing One

Hello everyone.

I'm about to start a new game in Skyrim, and this time I want my character to look like the iconic Dovahkiin. The problem is, the iconic outfit is cool, but kind of messed up: as you know he wears a studded cuirass, an iron helmet, iron gauntlets, and iron boots, and while the cuirass is considered Light Armor, the other pieces are all Heavy Armor. This is why I decided to create a mod that adds to the game new pieces of Studded Armor (helmet, gauntlets, and boots) which look like those of an Iron Armor, but are considered Light Armor and all part of the same set.

The real problem is, I've never created a mod. I've installed them, used them, played with them, but never ever created one of them. I know that I can use TES5Edit to create a mod, I know how to copy items to make new ones or override already existing ones, but I don't know how to modify them to make them as I want, nor do I know how to add those new items in leveled lists. This is why I'm here, to get your help in creating this mod, so that I can play my game as I wish.

TL;DR: can you please help me creating a mod that adds the missing pieces to the Studded Armor, make them look like Iron Armor pieces, and adds those new items in the leveled lists?
