Freeroam Races on Team Adventure FH4

Am I the only one that really dreads going into these races and feels like its luck most of the time. What I mean by this is that when doing the Freeroam races you pre-plan what you are going to skip and what you are going to stay on the road for before you begin. Then it either ends up going completely wrong or just that you run into a tree. There are a lot of problems with team adventure right now but I feel like these are one of the biggest. Maybe it's just me sucking at driving but I feel like even when I win these ones I don't even deserve it.
