The lack of dashboard options

Has anyone found a good looking option for a dashboard app or other dashboard solution for their smart home? Meaning an always on tablet or such where you could see the weather, current state of your smart stuff and maybe a music player.

Apple's Home app is as good as native support seems to get at the moment. Actiontiles seems to provide the best solution as of right now but is not that visually pleasing and requires smartthings (?).
