It's time to replace my Moto X 1st gen, need advice and if I am missing obvious stuf (as often happens)

for example, I missed that second f in stuff.

Original first batch Republic customer here, I still have my Defy, it makes a great flashlight.

Right now I have a Moto X 1st gen and my plan is "Republic Refund 0.5GB". Battery is going and it's really slowed down.

What I do with my phone: phone calls use the internet for maps and traffic and that's about it, also tether for my iPad. Light texting. Check my email sometimes. Flashlight.

What I don't do: take pictures very often watch videos very often pretty much anything else. (seriously, other than phone, traffic reports, maps, voicemail, texting, next up is flashlight - i miiiiiiight try out spotify one of these years, and I might take a few pictures of other than when I get rear-ended at a stop light, one of these years. Once I made a reddit post from my phone, I think.)

I doubt I need the S9. I'm thinking the Moto G6 or G6play. Maybe the S7?

I want a fast phone, though I'd imagine anything is faster than a very old Moto X.

Main question: Is the "Republic Refund 0.5GB" going to change? I like that I can by an additional 1GB for like 5 bucks if I'm going to go over, which is not very often.

Second question: What phone do you all recommend, especially if Question One is going to impact the choice?
