DIY Security System - Ring vs ST ADT

I've been researching DIY security systems. The criteria is self monitoring and no monthly fees.

I'm curious whether to go with the Samsung Smart Things ADT kit or the Ring security kit.

The reviews of the Samsung aren't great, but there's are more use then just a security system. The Ring is limited with it's features but has better reviews.

What are your thoughts?
