Why are cardboard tampons so bad?

Do any of you fine ladies also not mind using the tampons with a cardboard casing?

It seems they get a lot of hate for being uncomfortable. The plastic casings do feel more ergonomic, but the cardboard is not all that bad. I'm just curious what you have to say :)

Also - some of the times when I use the plastic ones, the tampon does not fully come out of the casing and I have to manually put the tampon into myself. I never have this issue with the cardboard. What am I doing wrong?
