So what's with the [spoiler] at the far west end of Nathan Ave in SH2

SpoilerDiscussion

I'm on my second playthrough and I decided to keep going past the Historical Society, just to see how far the road would go. You can get pretty close to the edge of the map, where the road is broken the same way it is in several other places, but in this case there's also a corpse with a bloodied map of the town (a couple things on it are circled, but I can't remember what specifically aside from the bowling alley, and it's nothing new if you're on track). James has no comment on either. I couldn't tell for sure, but it looked like the corpse was wearing James's clothes.

Unlike pretty much everything else in Silent Hill, it looks like not too many people have gone all the way out to the end of Nathan Avenue, because I've only found a little speculation about this and no mention of it on the wiki. I think the main theory is that it's there to redirect you in the unlikely event you got all the way out there and missed the bowling alley, but that seems kind of weird and very few elements of the game seem to have a single meaning anyway.

So, thoughts on what this one might represent? I was thinking it might have something to do with the idea that events in Silent Hill can repeat until the cycle is broken (if nothing else, the wiki talks about this in connection with the Maria ending) and it's supposed to be James from a previous attempt to escape that he doesn't remember, but I'm not sure it's actually supposed to be him.
