Want to raise dent out of old beater double barrel

I know I could just go have a gunsmith do it properly but the thing only cost me like $200 so I’d like to do it myself if possible. I’ve read you can drop a 3/8 socket down the barrel and push it into the dent with a dowel and use a brass hammer to flatten it, will that fuck up my gun? Is it even worth fixing if it’s barely noticeable looking down the bore?
