What is the term for writing in such a way that all the action and details are monotonously funneled through your character?
At one point I read several articles on the topic and how it's an easy trap but makes your writing repetitive and clunky. Now I can't bring the term to mind at all. I thought it was "framing", but I now I don't think so.
(Forgive my clumsy, over-simplified demonstration)
For example:
She noticed that her husband's eyes were red and she smelled alcohol on his breath. She realized he was drunk for the second night this week.
As opposed to:
Her husband's eyes were red, and his breath smelled of alcohol. It was the second night he had been drunk this week.
