Inconveniently Free

Text

Not 100% it works here since there's more choosing and not a lot of begging but...

I work in a sales call center for a large electronics retailer. I got a call from a customer who was having a hard time with our website (understandable since there seemed to be a few glitches during the Black Friday season's increased traffic) and she wanted to order it online with me.

No problem!

She explained she was moving and wouldn't be in her new home for a few weeks. Thankfully she was ordering a large TV, which we will deliver rather than ship for free so I was able to choose a date that suited her needs.

Then I realized we were running a promotion where she also got a free tablet with her TV purchase! I explained she could have it shipped to her current address (it would be arriving in a week or less, if I remember correctly) or pick it up in store.

She

Flipped

Out

"I don't know why I buy from you guys! It's always such an inconvenience! I will be gone by then and I can't get mail at the place I'll be staying at before I move into my new home! It shouldn't be this difficult to buy something from you!"

Again, this was a free item that she didn't even realize she would be getting until I told her about it!

I explained again she could pick it up in store but apparently that was too much hassle why can't we just deliver it with the TV?? (I think they just don't want to load the delivery trucks with other random ass things to be delivered but either way there's literally no way for me to add it onto the delivery).

I think the solution we finally came to was she would get it shipped to her new home but call UPS when she had the tracking information to see if they could delay it.

I just couldn't get over someone freaking out over a completely free thing they didn't even realize they were getting when they could have just picked it up in store especially when we were easily able to fix the primary thing they were wanting done.
