Was This Acceptable Drone Usage?
Greetings!
Yesterday, my family received the call that my sister's barn (and animals in it) burned down. Luckily, enough fire men with help from the pond on the property were able to keep the flames contained to just the barn.
Today, I was directed to a video of a reporter using a drone to fly across the property to gain very up-close, personal footage of the aftermath. In the video, it is low enough to be of person height (if a person had been standing in it's path) and they repeatedly show her house address. It is so close to the property that you can count the number of holes in her bird house on the lawn.
To us, it feels very invasive. Especially not even 24 hours after the incident. I know using drones is not an uncommon practice, but I have never seen a pro-reporter take a drone lower than a high aerial view. I'm looking online and it seems laws on airspace are - well, I don't understand them. Would you say that videographer was in the wrong at all? At the least, everyone I've shown the video too agrees it is in poor taste. I don't want to post the video on here because it does show my sister's address.
I appreciate everyone's thoughts.
