Word of warning from my lengthy (and responsible) phenibut use
Hey guys, I'd been taking phenibut never more than once a week for 3 years. I'd dose 2-2.5 grams of HCL on an empty stomach. Starting a year ago, I started experiencing shooting pains in my left leg, to the point where I was on crutches for a period. The intense pain subsided, but I was left with lingering pain in my medial knee/calf area. Fast forward 4 months, I'm still having this pain and it spread to my right leg as well. I was also experiencing nerve pain in my elbows. I was very afraid, and had no idea what could be causing my pain. I visited a handful of doctors and even an orthopedic surgeon & neurologist . None of them could diagnose my pain. They thought it could be sciatica but my pain profile and other factors ruled it out. I was sent to Physical therapy with a 'we have no idea what's wrong with you' diagnosis. Having wasted an immense amount of money on medical help and PT, I thought about my weekly phenibut use. I quit PT which was not helpful and decided to try cutting out phenibut. My pain would subside for a day and a half or so if I took phenibut, so I was worried it may be some sort of permanent withdrawal symptom. Being 2 months removed from phenibut, my pain is almost completely gone. I still have some faint pain and occasional electric 'shocks' down my legs, but for the most part I've regained all my mobility and can workout again.
I urge y'all to consider this, as I was not using it irresponsibly. I was dosing no more than 2.5g with AT LEAST a week in between. I'm only posting this because I searched everywhere and could not find a similar experience. I'm not sure if phenibut's nerve pain numbing properties hypersensitized my nerves or something, but it was definitely the cause of my pain. I hope this kind of post is allowed here.
