Noob needs help

I just bought the game and learned a few things.

I finally found a mission to help repair a station. I saw a few targets light up and went to one of them. Up close o flew and it went "blink" and then the rest just vanished. Nowhere did I see if I was successful or not. How do I check inventory and amount of current credits?

I also accepted a mission to help with a food delivery. It wasn't all that obvious to me where to go or what to do. I assumed I had not yet opened the map up far enough to get a target location....no idea. These food missions are my favorite ones--helping famine relief etc.

sigh
