I'm thinking of quitting dating & showing affection altogether
I know how ridiculous the title sounds, but it's honestly how I feel at this point.
2018 has been rough on me to put it mildly.
In March, I broke up with an alcoholic, gambling, abusive ex who put serious strains on my relationships with friends and family. The unfortunate part was that he basically made me pay my share of the remainder of our lease till September. So he essentially lived in an apartment that was furnished by me and my family he hated so much, whilst I moved home.
Shortly after the break up, I decided to go to The Netherlands for a music festival that a bunch of my friends were going to. A friend of a friend got in touch with me and basically told me what I wanted to hear ("You have so much to offer the world" "I think you're really handsome" "Please fuck me raw with that monster dick until the sun comes up" - you know, things someone who's just gone through a rough break up would love to hear). The twist here though, is that the dude telling me this was the hottest dude I've ever had talk to me. He's out, and everything of that sort. Get to the festival, barely looked or talked to me. Ouch.
July now, I've returned from The Netherlands with a bad case of blue balls (I wound up getting lucky in Amsterdam, but felt I settled for second best).
In addition to my ex trying to get back together with me. My family, who were one of the most vocal critics of my ex's drinking, are showing signs of drinking problems themselves, namely my father. My dad got so drunk one night, I had to stop him from punching my mother like Tyson.
Mom's is no saint either. Shortly after my breakup with the ex, she admitted she ran a background check on him. I have a younger brother (straight) who's brought home some degenerate ass women, and I don't even need to ask - I know my mother would NEVER run a background check on a female that her son was dating (she also is trying to actively set me up with women).
There was going to be a big long paragraph on how my job has dogged me all year, but that was made irrelevant when I was fired 3 weeks ago for "poor attitude" (which translated to me asking my coworkers why things I assigned them to do while I was out of the office, we're not handled).
The one part worth noting here is my little brother and I were supposed to move into an apartment in Manhattan together. Since getting fired, we pulled out of the apartment. We have lost our security deposit. Immediately upon hearing the news of my termination, my little brother only is interested in when I can pay him back.
Brother also did not get along with ex, who very vocally called him a "f****t" (same little brother was also secretly abusing Xanax and lied to my face about it).
2 days ago I flew down to Florida to surprise my grandpa for his 85th birthday. It took 5 minutes off the plane for my grandma to say "We all wish you were into girls".
Today, a boy for the last 5 years I've been casually fucking, who told me he wanted to be more than FWB, announced he's in a relationship with another guy today.
The fuck has been going on with people lately? I'd rather die alone than entertain people's fuckery these days.
I guess my question is. Am I just being salty? Or do I have a right to feel angry? Am I just not cut out for companionship with people? Why do people find it acceptable to keep pulling this shit with me?
