Artwork with Marquee

I have been using Mame since the late 90's but am new to reddit. I am running a 2 monitor setup. My objective is to have the 2nd monitor show the marquee. Of course there are plenty of ways to do this via the FE. I have it working with BigBox and know there are several other similar solutions. My goal is to use Mame's built in Artwork system. I have an the artwork collection from progettosnaps.net (outstanding!) as well as a large collection of Marquees. If I edit the .lay file and add the marquee file to the artwork zip everything works great. Where I am struggling is I have 1,600 artwork files and an equal number of marquees. Each of the 1,600 .lay files would have to be edited. Is there a way to make this work without manually editing 1,600 files?
