Anybody find Daryl's old singing style weird??

Hey everyone. Guitarist here who goes to Berklee College of Music and is a yuuuge fan of Glassjaw's stuff. However, despite being a big fan, I'm sometimes at odds with Daryl's vocal style, especially on EYNTKAS & W&T. To me, despite his vocal style fitting super well with the music, I still found his old vocals whiny & nasal, almost sounding the worst parts of a preteen girl's voice. Nowadays, I like Daryl's voice in Our Color Green, Coloring Book, & Material Control, mostly because it sounds like there's a little more gruffness on his voice, and it def sounds like he and his voice is a little older and more mature.

Does anyone else feel this way, or am I the only one on this island?
