Possible for LAN access only?

Seeing as the cameras connect directly to the home base, is it possible (or planned) to be able to restrict the homebase to not have access to the Internet? I realise I would then only be able to access the cameras when on the same network (WiFi for phone or LAN/wifi for desktop/laptop etc) but it feels like this should be an option.

I have a cheap chinese IPcam that can do this (you just give the cam a bogus default gateway and dns) so I don't think it should be technically unfeasable to offer this if you only want local network access, especially considering the price.

Does anyone know if this is already possible, even if it involves blocking it via router firewall rules or other method? If not, whether this has been mentioned or asked about before?
