Powering an Autocomplete on Fixed Dataset (1000 terms) with AWS
Had some questions about powering an autocomplete using AWS on a fixed dataset of ~ 1000 searchable terms (in this use case ~ these are cities).
My current stack for my backend is API Gateway, Lambda (Python), Dynamo, and S3. EDIT: these serve other use cases other than autocomplete.
I considered using AWS Elasticsearch Service or CloudSearch but these seem rather expensive as I pay on the order of 10s of cents per hour (~ 200-300 dollars per month) and most likely need to scale beyond the free tier. Given that the data set I'm operating on is rather small is there any alternatives you would suggest?
Regardless of the solution, this will probably be behind the API Gateway and using Lambda to query the data source. Maybe a pure Lambda code solution would do the trick?
Appreciate your advice.
