H9i Headphone faulty touch controls

I recently purchased the Beoplay H9i headphones and sometimes the touch controls only allow for play/pause control.

Wether I swipe up, down, left, or right all that happens is the music plays or pauses. This problems comes and goes but I can't seem to figure out what causes it.

I tried turning the proximity sensor on and off but it still occurs.

Does anyone know what causes this or a solution?

I'm using them with an iPhone / Macbook pro, and the app says they are up to date.
