Question about Turf Takeover

New to GW2... so what I’ve been noticing in turf takeover is that I’ve been on the same team sometimes 4x in a row. Like I would be zombies or plants for 4x. Try to switch but then it’s too full. I know there is Defend and then Capture but is it normal to be plants or zombies continuously? Am I supposed to switch on my own?
