What was the frontline like on the Western Front during WW2?
It seems there is a much clearer picture for what the fighting was like on the western front during WW1. The fighting is characterized by trench warfare, heavy artillery shelling, two sides facing off across no mans land.
But what was the fighting like during WW2? Was it also characterized by trench warfare the same? I know that Germany powered through the west using blitzkrieg tactics, but what followed these invasions?
What was the extent of the fighting on the ground on the Western Front during the time between the Dunkirk retreat and D-Day?
