Is it too soon to buy him a birthday present?

I’ve (F34) been dating my long time friend (M38) of twenty years for about two months. Things are going really great. His birthday is tomorrow and I’m thinking about getting him a gift. He mentioned he really enjoyed a couple hiking poles he borrowed from a friend for his last backpacking trip. I was thinking about buying him some. Would it be weird if I get him a present?
