New Glock 34 owner looking for ammo recommendations

Hello all.

Just bought a brand new gen3 Glock 34 and I’m looking for ammo to buy. Haven’t fired the gun or even bought a single bullet, so I’m turning to you guys for help.

As I gather, I should be looking for brass or aluminum (not steel). From what I’ve read, brass sounds best to me, but really I’d like a good reliable ammo that is clean and won’t require an immediate cleaning of the firearm. Fine with any amount of grain but I’d be curious to know what you guys think of the different weights.

In terms of purpose for said firearm and ammo, for now I’m only interested in range shooting, but home defense ammo recommendations for the future are also welcome.

Don’t have a set budget.
