Combining magic items

Say I had a belt of mighty hurling and I wanted to improve the stat bonuses and not add other abilities, could I just add 12k (the difference between a lesser belt of mighty hurling and a belt of giant strength (+2)) to the price of another belt? (So that, for example, I could get the mighty hurling str to accuracy as well as a bonus to both my strength and con).
