I'm looking for modern nonfiction travel writing about the north.
I'm almost finished reading "Shark Drunk" by Morten Stroksnes which is set in very recent days in the very northern part of Norway. I like this book and it reminds me of Bruce Chatwin's "In Patagonia" - at least what I remember about that book from 25 years ago. In Shark Drunk the author and a friend go fishing for a big shark in a small boat. What I like are the numerous tangents about sea life, rural Norway, fishing tales and the cold northern setting. I'm hoping to find another book set in the north to read next. Anyplace near the arctic circle with interesting travel - but I'm not really interested in real peril or suffering or death.
