What if ALL the main characters from G1 Season 1 and 2 survived the events of The Transformers: The Movie?

Right, I’m pretty sure most of you know the original masterpiece that was The Transformers: The Movie. Even though I’m only 17, I’ve grown to love and appreciate that movie, especially since it got me into this fandom and into Transformers in general. Since Bumblebee is coming out soon and is bringing back some nostalgic vibes, I began thinking about it again. Only, I played around with the thought of “what if”. What if, Optimus and Megatron’s fight happened, but both only got severe injuries, only to get repaired and come back later. What if when the Decepticons raided the Autobots ship, they all boarded an escape vessel? What if...things went as if we wanted it to? As kids, we all hoped that Optimus would survive, and that all the familiar faces we know and love from both sides of the battlefield survived. Now, take the events of the movie, but this time, twist some things, and change them in your mind so that these characters never died, but perhaps survived? Instead of Hot Rod becoming the future star, how awesome would it sound to have Optimus and Megatron set aside their difference for a brief moment, to fight against Unicron. Instead of Hot Rod becoming Rodimus Prime, Optimus could’ve had that iconic moment with the Matrix instead. With these little changes, how much better or worse would the original movie become in your eyes? With the characters we all grew attached to and loved, how different would the movie have played out?
