How mentally 'busy' is a non-ADHD mind vs ADHD mind?
so, a lot of people use meditation, mindfulness techniques and such to quiet the mind. i was lying in bed for far too long and couldn't force myself up, so i was super aware that my brain just wouldn't shut up. it was like a radio that was fairly quiet but it was always on. and a lot of what was being said was incredibly banal and pointless - like at one point my brain was just rhyming random words. and i've been noticing it all day now. it's often quiet, sometimes loud and racing, sometimes not... but it's always there.
i've heard people say they have multiple internal dialogues going on at once. i've never had that. but i do almost always have some churning thought going on, and even if i find a topic of interest i'll often have tangential hops and think... what was i even thinking about in the first place here? in the rare circumstances i hit hyperfocus, all that goes, and i actually can just zone into what i'm doing, but i haven't had proper hyperfocus for years.
whilst i'm aware that distractability and focus issues are pretty common symptoms on the ADHD spectrum, i'm not sure how thought patterns fall into that and i haven't read anything definitive about it. thoughts?
