I'm buying a 2018 VW Tiguan SEL Premium R Line this weekend - A few rookie questions I need help with

Hey guys... I'm an extreme rookie here on both buying cars and maintaining cars... Ive also never owned a foreign car... I'm buying a Tiguan SEL Premium this weekend from a local dealership... and I could use all the help I can get!

  1. I'm sure they are going to try to up-sell me on a few things when I'm signing... is there anything I should purchase (and is it negotiable? What price should I get it for?)?
  2. My dealer told me VW sells some sort of service package... 3 years, 5 years or 7 years... where all of your standard service is covered at any VW dealership. I didnt get any details or the price... Is that worth it?
  3. Ive never owned a foreign car.... is it really more expensive to service? I can just take it in for a $40 routine service at like Walmart or something right? Where they handle everything + rotate the tires? Or is VW a bit more complicated/expensive than that?
  4. Any tips on what I should do like within a week of buying the car? I'm thinking... Is there something I should do to protect the engine? Protect the leather? Protect the paint? Or am I good?

I know nothing about cars honestly... and I'm trying not to get screwed here... I really appreciate the help.
