My dog won’t jump in the car!

My GSD puppy (8 months) loves the car. However, he won’t jump into the car and expects to be picked up and helped into the car. This used to be okay but at 73 lbs it’s a little much. Any ideas on how to teach him he can jump into my car? For reference, it’s a mid sized SUV so not that tall.
