New baby and angry toddler. Please help us. Please.
Hey everyone. My wife and I are an emotional wreck and need advice. We just came home 3 days ago with our new baby boy.
Our 3 year old has been very excited leading up to the birth of his little brother. When we went to the hospital (2 days) he stayed home with my mom. I think he was hurt that he wasn't with us and maybe he feels like we "left him" for a couple of days. I called and also came home and brought him to the hospital after the birth but then he had to go back with my mom.
Over the past couple of days he is acting out a lot. He's yelling over things that he normally wouldn't. Refusing to do things that normally he wouldn't refuse. He has told my wife that he wants her to leave in the car, he has said that he wants his brother to go away and live somewhere else. He literally was saying this while kissing the newborn on the head.
We don't know what to do. I know everyone says / thinks this about their children, but he's a very smart and emotionally aware 3 year old. Please help us. I feel like we are failing him by not being able to help him with his feelings.
