Networking dropping - eliminating possible issues.
Hello all. I am pretty computer savvy, but not so much networking. I have had dropping internet issues for the past month, and just want to double check if my logic is sound and it really is my ISPs fault.
I have Cox in Phoenix, AZ. For the past month or so, I have been getting RCS partial service and T3 timeouts usually about 3-4 times an hour. This makes online gaming impossible, and affects streaming as well as my online classes. My initial thought is always the ISP, but I decided to play the game and go through the rounds.
Modem: Arris surfboard SB6190. My speeds are GREAT when i'm not dealing with inconsistency issues. I've also had Arris/Motorola for years and haven't really had a problem with them.
Router: Linksys WRT3200ACM. No changes with my router. I suppose its possible there could be a problem here, but here is why I think its Cox....
From what I can tell, the power and frequency seem ok for up and down. The corrected/uncorrectables seem a little worrying, but I'm not sure what those are. My belief is that since I am getting RCS and T3's that it is solely the responsibility of Cox, please correct me if I am mistaken.
Lastly, I have had 2 techs come out and another one scheduled for Friday. 1st tech said everything appears normal, gave me a filter to install on the cable inside my apartment. 2nd one definitely noticed the drops, and scheduled Cox to come out and repair the lines on the pole (which I did not see and apparently was completed with no change to my drops). I'm thinking with the 3rd one coming out, I can suggest maybe to rewire the cables?
Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Also, I want to get a 2nd opinion if I am correct in thinking this is an ISP issue. Thank you!
