[Spoilers] What do you think about Persona 5?

It gets circlejerked a lot but after all the hype I was kind of disappointed.

The soundtrack and overall aesthetic are the best parts, very well done for sure. The gameplay was enjoyable at first but later on it gets repetitive and the dungeons are ridiculously dragged out (Okumura and Shido give me nightmares, awful "puzzles" as well).

Story wise..especially considering how much it focuses on that (hours and hours of dialogue/cutscenes..) is rather disappointing after the first arc. Kamoshida was easily the best villian, truly despicable and the whole thing felt personal since he was a teacher in your school & you saw him regulary. There was real suspense here

After that it kind of becomes more generic and formularic. We got plenty of more villians but despite being more powerful they weren't nearly as memorable as Kamoshida. The group never feels like they are in danger and are always ahead of the villians (apart from the last arc), even the opening turns out to be some ridiculous plan.

It never goes deeper with the whole changing hearts premise either, the PT are always 100% good guys despite them brainwashing people to change.

The whole "adults are generally evil" thing also felt rather childish,the whole thing wasn't explored well and the main characters were never challenged regarding their silly outlook.

Even when one of the main villians just turned out to be another teenager like them, they just acted like he wasn't evil at all (Akechi) and it was all Shido's fault..even though he was responsible for the murder of countless innocents and the parents of two Phantom Thieves. Akechi is an overall messy character, his plan is absurd and his "development" is contrived (like in a Shounen he suddenly turns "good" and sacrifices himself lol).

Also the sudden saving the world direction in the last part seemed like a cheap way to resolve the main problem of their society. And how they defeat him, in an almost spirit bomb DBZ esque way was silly.

The dialogue is just very redundant, the characters just repeat themselves a dozen times and treat the player as if he was dumb as fuck.

The characters are likable I suppose but most are rather one note and barely developed after their intro arcs (Ann,Yusuke, Haru, Ryuji etc.)..the group didn't have much chemistry and meaningful relationships either. I bought that they were friends with the MC but not with each other. The confidants stories are pretty good, better than most of the main story tbh (Iwai, Takemi and Ryuji's were my favourites).
