2012 macbook pro 15 burnt component

Mac

Just a while ago i noticed a quiet unusual burning smell coming from my macbook pro. This happened after i put my mac to sleep went ti the bathroom, came back and had no way to bring it back to sleep correctly. I could see the keyboard backlight come on but nothing on display, but the machine did make noise when i smashed sown a lot of keys so i figured the ram had come unseated or where not properly seated in the first place, so i went to reseat them. All went fine and it turned back on but once i smelled around at the rear of the machine (which i have no clue as to why i did) i smelt that good old burning electronic smell, my favorite. so now after careful looking I've fount 1 burnt component, its to the connector that i believe is the isight camera and whatever else it connects to,one little transistor or capacitor. The machine was fully working when i smelt it and was responsive but I"m afraid to even turn it on anymore. Will this have long lasting damage to the board and what will be unusable now, also can i remove the component without any immediate damage to anything.

I have a 2012 macbook pro 15(non retina) base model with a high-res screen from a 2010 macbook pro 15.
