Can someone explain to me the purpose of being able to destroy other players camps.

I understand that NPC enemies in the game can destroy structures that we build in our camps. But why did Bethesda make it so that players can destroy each others camps as well? This just seems like a feature that caters to the griefers in the game and serves no other purpose but to leave people frustrated and disappointed at the hands of assholes. Am I the only one who feels this way?
