Santa needs help on picking a gaming system

I'm a 34 year old dude with an almost (Dec 30th) 4 yo boy and an almost (May 14th) 9 yo. I grew up on the classic Nintendo, Super Nintendo, 64, Virtual Boy (thanks Grandma but not for the migraines) PS1, and PS2. My gaming has fallen by the wayside due to adulting and not having the time. The only system my kids know is a Wii (first generation) that was gifted to us a couple of years ago. I'm in a financial situation now that can afford the a much better experience. My daughter (8 yo) loves Minecraft and ROBLOX and those kinds of games. The little man doesn't know what he wants. He loves it all. I'm torn between a Nintendo Switch and an XBox. My main concern with the Switch is that they don't treat screens well. Two damaged tablets to date. I know it has a dock for the TV but I fear damage none the less. Also I know that the XBox has a Minecraft bundle available. Teach this noob on what system to buy. Again it's for kids (Me too just a smidge) so just practical opinions please. Cost and "funability" are my main concerns. Thanks!! I'm subscribed and love reading the threads!
