How safe is this area at Night for High School Students?

Hey, I was visiting Hamilton for a two night stay for a educational workshop. I was considering hanging out in the nearby area as well. I am a High School student and was planning on hanging out from around 6-10pm in that area. And the area I'm talking about is around James Street N/York Blvd and King St W/ James Street S.
