Server Downtime Babble; Fo76 as a DLC to Fo4

Picture

So while Bethesda attempts to unduck their "services" during US Prime Time I've been twiddling my thumbs, watching the YouTubes, and randomly recalling thoughts I've had during my three hour commute.

One such thought? Fallout 4 really felt like it could have easily been a two player Co-Op game. Your motivation is a kid. You've got two parents. The creation screen lets you fabble back and forth between them. What if they made, and then gave, a Fallout 4 Co-Op DLC to everyone who owned Fallout 76?

Ignoring that Todd has already said they had thought of Fallout 4 multiplayer - they've now already done the work of kajiggering the engine in to multiplayer mode. Offload all the server gobbledygook to the client for some peer-to-peer co-op play; I'm sure the code can handle unlimited stash for two players.

There wouldn't need to be many tweaks to dialog trees or anything else. Both players motivation is the same; where is my son? All you need to do is make them shove the spouse back in and violently take Shaun, rather than shooting them in the pan, add an extra memory lounger or two along the way, and done.

If they really wanted to SELL IT (they wouldn't because it would be a lot of work); you could even make it so the two players can take branching paths and end up opposed to eachother. Some juicy extra content. Bob becomes a Minuteman. Martha backs the Raiders. Stephanie thinks the Institute is right. Janice really likes the cut of that Maxon guys jib. Brandon took Dogmeat as a companion and stuck Phillip with -ugh- Piper.

You might have guessed; I just assumed Bethesda would leave choosing your gender in. What is really just flying fast and loose on the "editing the experience" and "forced narrative perspective" side of things would be hailed by media as being super progressive.

Oh and would you look at that? I babbled just long enough for the servers to come back up. Time to try and go get my camp foundations unstuck from the void. Imgur Picture of Frustration and What is this giving access to exactly?
