WHAT EVEN IS ETERNAL.

Compare this to Eilyn's choice, which was reasonably playable.

Eilyn's choice: kill a unit with 4 atk or more.

This card: just NOPE that thing out of existence, effectively, regardless of how much atk it has. Someone swinging in with gorgon fanatic or beastcaller? See ya.

Second mode: end of your turn, DoK for...AZINDEL'S GIFT. So you can run mask of torment, eye of winter, azindel's gift, moondial/staff of stories in the same deck...oh geez.

Third mode: that's not a mini-rapid as a consolation prize. That's a PERMANENT mini-rapid. Both the attack and the quickdraw.

We knew TPS needed love as it was basically unplayable up until now in Eternal in a really serious way.

This card alone makes it worth splashing T in your Feln decks, or P in your Xenan decks. Elysian splash S? Ehhhh?

We all thought DoI was great. This card is a whole new level of fantastic.

We'd better be seeing some TPS brews with this, because between this card and cleaver, there's definitely enough incentive for that 3F now.

So yeah, I'll be surprised if TPS doesn't get some very serious brewing. It might not become a tier 1 archetype, but if it doesn't, this card certainly won't be the reason, because this card is just NUTS.

Maybe it says a lot about me that my first thought was [[Crown of possibilities]].

Also, being able to [[Strategize]] away an early [[Azindels' Gift]] and then fetch it back later with this thing seems real good.

Ilyak1986•

Clown of possibilities -_-...

Deeper, we have to go DEEPER.

25
GeoquakeOP•

Azurite Prixis?

31
Mornar•

One day someone will explain to me at least one application of this card. Doesn't even need to be good, just.. make any sort of sense.

You have my attention.

Kazuja•

This seems like a Primal/Time relic Clown's wet dream.

I get to either tutor my Crown/Mind Link/Mask/build-around meme relic for a 3 power card, or use this thing as a (fairly unconditional) removal or combat trick spell when former would be dead, all that at fast speed?

Shit's some mighty value, I tell you what.

2
Sliver__Legion•

Oh my goodness, I missed the third mode being permanent. Definitely going to try out some Knowledge Feastcaller then.

15
Ilyak1986•

Now we're talking.

8
darkdonnie•

Wow I missed that also.

3
IstariMithrandir•

With Cirso

3
ZealousidealSun4•

Feast-chan requires 3 Primal, splashing third colors is difficult, it might work but it'll be annoying. That said, people run Highway.

3
AmorphousFWT•

This card is definitely making me consider swapping from TJS Mask to TPS Mask. I'd be really sad to lose Siraf and Parliament, but it seems we're at least getting a Primal Parliament that makes Dragons instead so I might have to get over it. My premium flaming owls will resent me a bit though, as that card is a lot harder to slot into random decks than Siraf is.

13
Ilyak1986•

You know, you can play 4F mask.

16
Musical_Muze•

We need to go deeper. 150-card 4F Mask!

4
Ethereal_Gears•

I believe you were trying to spell 150-card 5F Nictotraxian Crown Knucklebones Mask?

9
AmorphousFWT•

Yes, though I already have some clunky early turns establishing Mask and getting my influence spread with depleted power cards. I generally have the biggest issue with aggro so I'm hesitant to branch out into a 4th faction and have an even greater risk of a stumble in the first few turns. The new Clutch of Talons is also wanting triple Primal, so I'd be a bit iffy on hitting that reliably.

I've definitely considered it in the past though, yeah. I've been greedy enough to do 4F and 5F Crown decks before, maybe I should stop being a coward with Mask.

2
Ilyak1986•

Against aggro, you have options like Combrei healer and stonepowder alchemist, if not temple scribe.

And clutch of talons is a big no-no for a 4F mask deck, but you also don't need it when you have great parliament itself, and aid of the hooru.

3
NotSoLuckyLydia•

I think lightsoutace put out a 4f mask list a while ago, and it worked pretty well as the basis of my list. Definitely has some stumbles against aggression, but can certainly hold its own.

2
simplebricks•

Join us, play scourge of frosthome in a mask deck and the camel+vara. Come to the jank side.

1
lord_geryon•

This card: just NOPE that thing out of existence, effectively, regardless of how much atk it has. Someone swinging in with gorgon fanatic or beastcaller? See ya.

Fuck you, Makto. Go away.

10
badguyty•

Yeah so I'm going to need you to put a cover sheet on this TPS report.

8
Ilyak1986•

From what we know so far: find a way to put that one source of T in your Feln; you won't regret it. Not sold on Xenan being well-positioned, even with this thing; it doesn't want to down-tempo to tutor for relics, its best forms are up-tempo, and the fast sidearm I'm not sure is good enough to splash a third faction for.

Elysian: it's Elysian; it sucks; don't play it. Even with this.

Feln: if you're going to modify one 2F to use this, this is the place to be. I think you might want to be the Vara/Caiphus version more than the aegis CoCu version, but I think both variants can work with this.

TPS 3F: it may be time to revisit ManuS's cleaver deck and see if this can fit in there.

In all honesty, I think this card spawns its own archetype, and said archetype will be competitive when tuned correctly. Between hailstorm, setback, and this card, they go a huge way in covering your ass early on, and later on, they're tutors or equips for cards like titan, feast-caller, and so on.

I'm most likely going to be going hard on path of exile for the first few weeks, but as soon as that cools off, you better bet I'll be looking into this baby.

5
ajdeemo•

This also looks to be super scary in draft, as the permanent quickdraw is even better there and it's an uncommon.

7
Ilyak1986•

Forget about draft. This card is filthy there. Outside of leggos, I'm not sure if this isn't the best card in the format.

4
GoldStarBrother•

Well this being in 3 factions vs 2 definitely means it can be more powerful. But yeah this is a very good card regardless, they clearly want these Displays to see a lot of play.

2
Ilyak1986•

I'm actually afraid that FJP and FJS are going to be pretty awful because of Rizahn and Icaria still seeing play.

Giving 3F Rakano decks options is a tight rope to thread because those decks can blow up on the meta at any point.

3
GoldStarBrother•

Yeah I feel you, I'm really hoping they figured out how to push those Displays without Rakano + splash decks breaking the meta. The 3 we've seen so far are definitely the ones it's safest to push.

1
grdivrag•

We all know the second mode was meant for Cleaver :p

2
IstariMithrandir•

Cleaver isn't a relic. Some might say Temporal Distortion

4
grdivrag•

Yeah, my bad. This happens when the M:tG part of my brain takes over the keyboard.

2
IstariMithrandir•

Happens to me all the time, although I don't play MtG, still my memory of the cards and intricacies of their details lets me down, even on this subreddit there's an example.

2
Ilyak1986•

Sorry, Dave, I can't let you do that =P

3
wafflethewolf•

I am looking at splashing this on in TJP temporal now. I reckon the trilands make it at least plausible.

1
Hjemmelsen•

I saw the spoiler early in the morning and figured I must be missing something, so I made a mental note to check the comments later on to have someone explain how this wasn't format warping. Turns out it's just ridiculous.

1
Ilyak1986•

The only thing easy to miss is that the +2 and quickdraw buff is permanent. The card is better than it looks at first glance.

3
Hjemmelsen•

I actually did catch that, and I figured it was just me not understanding what makes a card yet. But no, this is really insanely good.

1
IstariMithrandir•

DOK IT!!!

1
AdagioOrAfk•

Actually, TPS legend pile is not completly unplayable right now. It have good matchup against agressive and midrange decks, having access to best removal and discard in early game - vara's and rindra choices, banish, hailstorm and good mid and late units - vara, feastcaller, BSH, or even azindel. The only problem is power issue, mainly that third primal for feastcaller and with new redraw mechanics that's rarely a problem right now. im currently in second diamond and i have winrate somewhere above 60 % in new season. while this card will help TPS in being recognised as a viable deck, it is only another 3 drop that is going to probably be played instead of banish.

1
PapaCapricornShiftstoned.com•

If only it transformed the attacking unit into a 0/1 Ant before placing it on the bottom of the enemy deck...

1
wolfenstian•

What I find amazing about this card is that it has multiple options, which normally means they are weaker than average, but here they are stupidly strong.

First is the kill effect. Take Eilyn's Choice, mix it with Bury the Past, and you have this monstrosity. Putting a unit on the bottom of the deck is far stronger than just sending it to the void as now only a tutor can get it back. You don't simply just kill a unit with this, you nuke it from game entirely. Feeding Time saw play and that was slow and costed 4; imagine what this can do.

Drawing a specific relic from your deck at fast speed on 3 is no joke either. As this is in Time, you are looking at some of the best relics in the game and now you can easily have your pick. Sure, the market will probably be more attractive but having the option to grab something already in your deck is very nice.

Finally there is the almost weaker Rapid Shot. I say almost as it does not contain the words "this turn" thus the buff is permanent. Push that damage and have some for the following turns as well plus Quickdraw. Permanent Quickdraw is so powerful that it is not present on any spells so far and only a select few weapons.

All in all, this card is nuts and I can see people splashing just to put it into decks. Each option has enough strength to stand alone but here you have the option of all three. I would expect this power on a legendary spell but this is uncommon; might be the first time I go out of my way to craft an uncommon.

25
GallowgrimKnightly Knave•

Put this in the Market. Instead of five relics(for example), now it is 'every relic in your deck.'

9
zeeke42•

And you have your pick of 3 different merchants to pull it with.

9
GallowgrimKnightly Knave•

Yep!

2
xpistou83•

Seems quite strong to me but I'm a noob.

15
Ilyak1986•

Congratulations on having reasonable card evaluation skills. This card is AMAZING.

24
TalkingLlama•

Nah, you're catching up. This is definitely quite strong - at least by today's standard. But of course it might end up on the sidelines, if Defiance includes many much stronger cards. The versatility makes it easy to include, if you can play relevant relics. It can effectively increase your market capacity by putting, for example, Azindel's Gift in your main deck to be fetched by the display, also allowing you to choose merchant more freely.

3
Mrf1shie•

Yeah, allows you to play a bunch of one ofs main deck, with 7 copies of this (you'll probably want one in the market) I can see a sweet relic toolbox deck.

2
Lacrimalus•

The art makes it look like this would negate a spell or create an Aegis, but it does none of these things.

Last minute art swap?

12
IstariMithrandir•

Powerful card nonetheless. You could say tucking an attacking unit on the bottom of the opponents deck warrants this kind of art.

1
Rainhall•

I see your point. I was too busy thinking the art looks amazing to ask if it made sense, though. I love this card.

1
Fyos•

I know what I'm going to be making foils of when the new set drops.

9
Mornar•

Literally the first thing I've said when I saw this card. It's bonkers, and I've been trying to make a crown deck with these colors work for a while now.

3
Zakrael•

It says a lot when "unconditionally tutor a relic from your deck at fast speed" is probably the weakest mode on a three-mode card.

This is nuts.

9
IstariMithrandir•

Oh my goodness, infinite hourglass at fast speed, and my sleeping units are now unexpectedly blocking...

EDIT: This is just plain wrong, silly me

0
Orderswrath•

You just add hourglass to your hand, not play it. This effect is definitively strong, but does not help much in your case.

4
IstariMithrandir•

ah yes, relics aren't fast. Thanks for correcting my silliness.

2
JdPhoenix•

Even if it did play it, giving a unit Endurance doesn't ready them.

1
Orderswrath•

Ah yes, thx for good points. Since Endurance merely ready the unit on the start of each players turn, it doesn't ready the unit during battle even if it was given in that time.

1
Zakrael•

Wouldn't work - you can draw the hourglass at fast speed, but still have to wait for your turn to play it..

The fast tutoring is mostly useful so you can draw the card at the end of your opponent's turn if you have 3 power spare, then play it immediately when your power refreshes.

1
IstariMithrandir•

Thank you, you are right

I for one welcome our new Knowledgeable overlords

3
umlammy•

Well this card is insane.

2
Whiskerbro•

All of the display cards so far look very good, but this one looks to be the best we’ve seen yet. I don’t see the last mode getting that much use in ranked but that’s just because of how fantastic the other two abilities are.

2
Ilyak1986•

Are you kidding me?

This thing is absolutely gross on any of the diesels, Rindra, Vara, Titan, Cirso...this thing is just so stupidly good with those things.

5
Whiskerbro•

I think i’d just rather grab whatever relics i’m playing if i already have any of those units and I’m stabilized. If I’m not stabilized I’m using the first mode. I didn’t say the third ability wasn’t good, jut that the other two will be used more.

1
Ilyak1986•

Oh, for sure. Yeah, if I play this card, I'm definitely putting in some gamebreaker relics maindeck for this to hit.

3
AgitatedBadger•

Yeah I 100% agree. The first two modes are just so much more powerful than the third mode that you probably will feel bad using it even though it's an acceptable effect.

Especially since the first two modes pair really well together and they are both effects you want to play on your opponent's turn. If your opponent swings in you have the option of fast speed removal, and if they don't swing in or you don't feel pressured to block it, you have a fast speed tutor. This is a card where you really want to take advantage of the fast speed.

Also, this card's first mode counters the third mode really effectively. So if it becomes very popular and people are bold enough to use it as a combat trick, they risk getting 2 for 1'd by the same card.

2
ThreeSpaceMonkey•

This is really strong, but Instinct is also really strong, and I think people are undervaluing how good it's going to be in an aggressive shell (where it functions as reach, removal, and protection both against spot removal and harsh rule.

This is a bit narrower, though it's also absurd in the right deck.

3
Ilyak1986•

It's not so much narrower as it is a control card. The first mode is very defensive, the third mode needs a big unit, and the second mode needs you to slow down the pace of the game.

2
ThreeSpaceMonkey•

It's narrower in the sense that it only fits in one archetype. Display of Vision Instinct seems like it's probably going to be a staple in most decks on color.

1
Ilyak1986•

I REALLY disagree on DoV being a staple in most decks of that color. If I'm going up-tempo, I do NOT want that piece of garbage.

1
IstariMithrandir•

No, if you choose to ignore the relic tutoring it's got decks it'll fit in just fine. If you choose merely to fetch relics, you can probably brew a deck for that (and doubling up as removal if need be.) I think you're underestimating this card a lot.

1
SapNiK•

So many names new guy doesn't understand. Tps tgs praxis... Any dictionary? I am serious!

2
Ilyak1986•

TPS: time, primal, shadow. Praxis: the fire/time 2 faction. Feel free to DM me with your questions.

2
Mornar•

Oh my god someone hold me, I'm in love. This is amazing.

2
GGCrono•

I am slam-dunking this straight into Cirso's Feast and nobody can stop me.

2
austine567•

Does anyone else feel like they got the art mixed up between this and Display of Instinct? They both feel like they would fit better on the other card.

2
Chefbarbie74•

All I can say is; "how do I stabilize a 4 color chalice deck."

2
BearSnack_jdazappchance+6377•

It bothers me that the abilities are not in TPS order.

Seems like the the order of abilities on the card is Primal, Time, Shadow instead. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Also seems like a great, versatile card. And the art is gorgeous.

Edit: So I was wrong 😅

1
Sliver__Legion•

Nah, the abilities are actually in Time, Primal, Shadow order. Putting units on the bottom in a time ability [[Bury the Past]] and so is getting rid of attackers in a non-damage way [[Envelop]], [[Recombobulate]].

Tutoring for relics specifically was previously undefined, but [[Celestial Omen]] is Primal and [[Elvish Swindler]] suggests that it's a primal thing.

6
