MovieBob actually had a pretty good analysis of what Disney's doing with/to Star Wars.

The thing I take issue with is his conclusion that we should just take it that Disney is gonna endlessly regurgitate Star Wars are quasi remakes into different mediums so that you disassociate it with what it once was. Which is so damn stupid after you just said "MONOPOLIES ARE BAD." Well, yeah. But then why should we resign ourselves to taking it?
In the long term, he may be right. But I tend to see this as Disney seeing kids being disinterested in Star Wars toys, and attempting to do something about it in the short term. Kids are glued to phones and tablets and watch a shitload of YouTube videos. They may not have the attention span to sit through an entire Star Wars movie, especially at a very young age. (Certainly wasn’t my problem as a kid.) So they toss out these shorts to get the kids interested enough to want the toys and maybe even sit through an ancient movie or two.
They're doing a bang-up job in the selling toys department right. Truly they are.
Movie bob wishes they would do that coz it keeps him in business, the business of talking crap about movies and video games on YouTube.
At some point Disney will just delete the OT and stop producing it.
Isn't Movie-Bob in the circle of Alamo Drafthouse D-bag reviewers who are all FRIENDS with Rian? Yeah, no. Fuck this guy.

Moviebob can fuck himself after saying fans should accept TLJ as a "love letter" to them and the franchise
