Blue Yeti Pro too sensitive

Help

Trying to record some regular speaking audio but the damn blue yeti picks up EVERYTHING. Even the small sound from opening my lips. Have it in cardiod with the gain as low as possible but still...

Yes it’s a condenser mic, it’s supposed to be super sensitive. If you’re working in an untreated room, it’s gonna pick up everything.

That's not how microphone sensitivity works

Yup. If you are deploying it correctly, it should be pretty much 6" from your face, Gain knob down, and (here's the important part) turn the Windows Recording Level down to your liking. You'll have to play with it depending on your volume of speech, and other ambient noise. It helps to isolate your voice as best as possible. whenever i can, i move my computer into another room. and i built a (really terrible and hideous) sound box around my mic, to mitigate Left/Rear/Right ambient noise from being picked up. It's not going to be perfect. but it'll help, somewhat.

My main issue isn't ambient, it's things like the sound of me opening my lips.

You could try the old "wool sock" approach, or double sock. You might play with distance. But at the end of the day, you might just have loud lips....

use voicemeter bananna and turn up the gate option. or if you're using another program like obs for streaming and such get a noise gate plugin

Sometimes the cheapest, simplest solutions are the best.

Get a foam wind screen that fits on it, I'm guessing most probably will. Though some are designed for it, but seems to be more of a cash grab than grabbing a generic one.

Then double down and get a cheap pop filter to put another layer between mouth noises and the mic. Might want to consider this style instead of the circle of pantyhose style.

If you're still in your return period, for the price you would probably find a dynamic mic you like better for your needs.
