My shop used to carry Populo... What a goddamn headache. After that experience, I can't in good faith recommend super low-end e-bikes to anyone.
Fine. I'll admit it. E-bikes make me irrationally upset and part of me is dying inside to see their acceptance and proliferation.
But when you ride one, you get this child-like grin on your face. They're fun! I bought a step-through city e-bike for my wife, and she's never been a 'cyclist'. It allows her to go out with me and we can click off 14-18 mph for 15-20 miles and ride together, something she couldn't really do on a regular bike. As she's getting in better shape, she can dial back the assist from the e-motor and get more of a workout. More people pushing against car culture seems a good thing IMO.
ebikes > cars
This a billion times
Yeah, but in 1910 people were saying the exact thing about derailleurs. And in 1970 about mountain bikes.
Look at what sub we're in though...
