[CLAIM] Elections come to a close

CLAIM

##Atlanta, Georgia

November 6th, 2024

Stacy Abram's concession speech in Atlanta was long, winding and depressing. With her running mate Vann Caldwell in the wings, Abrams decried racism, sexism, homophobia (she had recently come out as bisexual), classism, antisemitism... et cetera. Abrams raised her voice as the disappointed crowds below her ebbed and flowed, but by the end of the night, she was yelling to an empty room.

Why was she so mad? She hadn't walked away with a single electoral vote. For the third election in a row, Southern Democrats had walked away with nothing, and Tim Scott of South Carolina was on his way to the Presidency.

The Southern States of America, by all intents and purposes, is a one party state. The GOP holds supermajorities in both the House and the Senate, control every state legislature and every governorship in the country. The South's feeble Democratic organization before the split was weak enough; now, without the national Democrats up North to rely upon, they have nothing left.

Democrats hold just two Senate seats, and only 13 House seats. In Alabama and South Carolina, they don't even hold enough seats in the State legislature to count as a caucus.

The GOP is in total control of the South. Within the GOP, however, rebellion is brewing. The brutal primary clash between Tim Scott and Roy Moore seriously divided the party between the moderate and alt-Right populist wings, and even the pick of Ron DeSantis, seen largely as acceptable to the far wings of the party, could not heal the wounds of outright war. Moore's campaign nearly topped the GOP elite, and even fresh pedophilia accusations have not diminished Moore's polling as he hints towards a 2028 rematch in the GOP primaries.

Tim Scott leads a divided nation. Democrats seeth and appear ready to lash out, locked out of legislation by poor organization and gerrymandering. Their strategy will shift and they appear ready to take advantage of a GOP split in 2028. Within the GOP, populists and the alt-right grow in power in the wings, ready to strike rich in power.

And abroad, the Scott administration faces an America divided, literally and figuratively. The New American Republic has reached out and the South may just get involved in the war. How will be act? How will he fight for the Southland, as the first black President of the SSA?

[M] I'm sorry for dropping the ball on Iran and ditching it, but I really don't think I could've properly handled it. It's difficult to handle a civil war you never really had any intention of handling, yknow? Part of it is the mods sort of disrupting the things I was working on, which is understandable because part of it was just me not really knowing where to go next. I'm hoping for this claim to go much better and last the rest of the season.
